Addu City, Maldives – The management of Canareef Resort Maldives today assured the Addu City Council that the resort will be reopened in by the end of this year.
Addu City Council stated this after the southernmost city’s councillors and mayor visited the resort to monitoring the progress.
According to the Addu City Council, the resort is now under renovations and will open in December. Addu City Council states that the council will assist the resort management in all areas including job recruitment to fast track the reopening.
Addu City, the second-most populous city in the country met with a standstill tourism industry after the country was forced to shut down its borders due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The closure of two main resorts of Addu, Canareef Resort and Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, lead to hundreds of Adduans losing their jobs.
Currently, the only remaining tourist facilities in Addu city apart from the guest houses are South Palm Resort and the city hotel Equator Village.
