COVID-19: 1700 cases active across the Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal that there are 1,700 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives.

HPA stated that 128 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives on Saturday.

While 35 cases were from the Malé area, 66 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. Additionally, 27 new cases were found from operational resorts, adding up to 1,700 active cases in the country.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 87,487 out of which 85,531 patients have made full recoveries, as of 28 October 2021. To date, the country has recorded 243 Covid-19 related fatalities.

With this Maldives continues the trend of higher percentage of cases recorded in the islands. Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has previously informed that of the islands under monitoring, Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo of Addu City have been under monitoring status for the longest period of time starting from 28 August 2021.
