Maldives implements Strategic Policing Requirement

Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Ministry of Home Affairs today implemented the Strategic Policing Requirement as stipulated by the Maldives Police Service Act (Law No. 34/2020).

The Strategic Policing Requirement takes into account the fundamental principles, guidelines, roles and other aspects concerning police officers, aiming to streamline policing in the country by ensuring adherence to the constitution as prescribed the Maldives Police Service Act.

The Commissioner of Police will henceforth refer to the newly established Strategic Policing Requirement when molding the police service for further advancement of police work, reduce organized crime and uphold societal peace.

The Strategic Policing Requirement provides guidelines to develop various aspects of the Maldives Police Service including human resources development, expansion of jurisdictions, navy policing, and procurement and usage of equipment.
