Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has eased restrictions for fully vaccinated South Asian work permit holders effective 15 December 2021.

The agency has also nullified the previous decree enforcing quarantine of South Asian work permit holders in a government assigned facility.

According to the new guidelines, South Asian work permit holders who are not fully vaccinated must,

  1. Quarantine at a location assigned by the local sponsor. Quarantined persons will be released after 14 days upon producing a negative PCR test.
  2. Travellers requiring quarantine as per part (1) must inform HPA of the quarantine location one day prior to arrival.

Special guidelines were imposed on South Asian inbound travellers by HPA earlier this year is due to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in Maldives and in the neighboring countries.

At present, the Maldives has fully vaccinated 366,165 people with 396,358 receiving the first dose.
