Malé, Maldives – The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has announced the newly appointed members of the Judges Appeal Chamber for this year today.
The chamber is formed with justices from the three levels of the Maldivian judiciary and may hear appeals regarding decisions made by the Judiciary Services Commission (JSC) against judges, excluding dismissal notices sent to review at the Maldives Parliament.
The Judges Appeal Chamber was formed under the Judicial Service Commission Act (Act no. 9/1994).
This year’s appeal chamber consists of Supreme Court Justice Husnu Al Suood, High Court Judge Abdul Rauf Ibrahim and Drug Court Judge Muhthaz Fahmy.
Last year two cases were appealed to the Judges Appeal Chamber.
