Malé, Maldives – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has arrived in the Maldives on Friday, on an Official visit, on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid.
Minister Çavuşoğlu was received at the Velana International Airport by Minister Shahid and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During this visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu will be paying courtesy calls on the President of the Republic of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of the People’s Majlis, President Mohamed Nasheed. Minister Çavuşoğlu will also hold official talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
This is the first Official visit from a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and marks an important milestone in the four decade long bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Türkiye.
Prior to visiting the Maldives the Turkish Foreign Minister visited Sri Lanka and discussed ways to strengthen ties between the two countries.
