Addu City, Maldives – Mayor Ali Nizar of Addu City has warned residents of Hithadhoo Maakilhi residents as a fire spreads uncontrolled in the Maakilhi area.
We still can’t stop the fire… Fire is spreading fast.
Mayor Nizar states that the MNDF Fire and Rescue along with the police are on the scene trying to curb the spread. He further added that the Addu City Council is warning residents living in the area to take precautions.
The fire is spreading close to the main public hospital in Addu City, Addu Equatorial Hospital.
Update: City Council is calling residents in the area to vacate their homes and are moving to remove vehicles parked in front of homes.
The fire has been spreading uncontrolled for more than 8 hours since 16:00 today.
