Addu City, Maldives – The Fire and Rescue services are now using excavators to make way to bring fire trucks into the area.
Some residents of the Hithadhoo Maakilhi area have been advised to vacate homes.
Update (01:57) – Airport fire truck has been brought to the scene.
The fire has been spreading uncontrolled for more than 8 hours since 16:00 today.
