Addu City, Maldives – The first Air Quality Monitoring sensor under the Regional Air Quality Monitoring Project was installed today in S. Hithadhoo at Addu City Council.
The project was launched today in Addu City with an agreement signing between the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology and Addu City Council.
State Minister Dr Abdulla Naseer signed on behalf of the Ministry while Mayor Ali Nizar represented Addu City.
Addu City residents can now monitor the air quality by downloading an app.
Under the Regional Air Quality Monitoring Project, 10 Air Quality Monitoring sensors will be installed in selected regional hotspots throughout the Maldives. Monitoring sensors will be installed in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi, Sh. Funadhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, L. Gan, GDh. Thinadhoo, Gn. Fuvahmulah in addition to Addu City. Sensors are also installed in Hulhumalé and Malé in the capital city.
Data from these sensors are to be collected for 5 years and to be used to strategize health and environment protocols.
