Addu City Council requests HPA to remove monitoring status

Addu City, Maldives – Addu City Council has requested Health Protection Agency (HPA) to remove the monitoring status off the city.

While monitoring status was imposed on Addu City on 28 August 2021 amid uncontrolled Covid-19 cases, making the southern city the longest in recent times to be under monitoring restrictions, the daily positive cases have dropped to single digits this week.

Noting that the city is still under strict monitoring directives, Addu City Council stated that the Addu Covid-19 management task force has recommended removing the monitoring status from Addu City.

As of 18:00 on 19 December 2021, Addu City council reported 1 new daily positive case from Hithadhoo district. The active cases have dropped to 56 with 1 patient hospitalized.
