COVID-19: Schools in Addu City to reopen tomorrow

Addu City, Maldives – Schools are to reopen tomorrow with physical classes despite the monitoring status.

The statement released by the Addu City Council states that Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reviewed the situation at Addu City after concerns were raised by parents due to the long break in physical classes. HPA has thereby granted approval for physical classes to start in Addu City in accordance with the protective guidelines set by the Education Ministry.

Meanwhile, Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) revealed that Addu City recorded 6 new cases as of Sunday. The statistics released by AEH showed that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now at 262.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Maradhoo with 124 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 78 active Covid-19 cases and Feydhoo with 31 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 5 cases.

The remaining two islands in Addu City, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo were brought into monitoring status on September 4th after Covid-19 cases started to rise in the islands. AEH informs that there are 15 active cases in Meedhoo and 9 active cases in Hulhudhoo as of this Sunday.
