Shamil elected President of ACC

Malé, Maldives – Following the appointment of members to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) after a significant vacancy, the President and Vice President of the commission have now been named.

In a secret vote taken among the members, Adam Shamil and Abdul Salaam were elected President and Vice President of the Commission respectively.

Born to Th. Vilufushi, Shamil, who has a Masters in Law from Maldives National University (MNU), previously worked as an investigation officer at ACC, and then moved to the Children’s Ombudperson’s Office as the Director of the Investigation and Legal department.

Vice President of the commission Abdul Salaam, born to Sh. Narudhoo previously served as the Senior Investigation Officer at the ACC.

Other members of the five member commission include Thaha Mohamed, Shazna Hashin and Shiyama Mohamed.

The appointment of new members to ACC comes following the resignation of all previous members of the commission during December of 2021.
