Addu City, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Wednesday confirmed the release of three out of the nine arrested in Addu under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (No. 32/2015).
Police have not released any further details of the investigation. Nine individuals were arrested under regarding a terror plot in the southernmost city on Sunday, 27 March 2022.
The arrests coincide with the visit of high profile officials including the President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, Foreign Minister and UNGA President Abdulla Shahid and External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar.
