Malé, Maldives – Ruling party MDP on Thursday lost the right to contest in the Vilimalé Women’s Development Committee (WDC) by-election as the party missed the deadline for application.
The only parties contesting the seat are candidates from the opposition PPM and the recently formed MNP.
The Vilimalé WDC seat was vacated after the sudden death of MDP representative Aminath Eman sustained critical injuries in an accident, passed away on March 1.
