Four hour vehicle free window scheduled in Malé for Eid

Malé, Maldives – The Malé City Council on Wednesday voted to impose a 4 hour vehicle ban in the capital city Malé on the day of Eid.

The vehicle ban which does not extend to the other districts of Malé including Hulhumalé and Vilimalé is scheduled from 16:00 to 20:00. This is to allow the residents to go out and celebrate Eid without vehicles and traffic in the congested capital city.

While most vehicles are banned, ambulances and emergency vehicles are permitted during the vehicle free window.

Vehicle-free windows have been implemented in Malé City on Eid and other such festivities in recent years.
