Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Wednesday cautioned the public ahead of the Eid holidays noting that there is a surge in dengue cases.
HPA released a statement today stating that the internal local travel increases for holidays and urged the public to be vigilant in protection against dengue fever.
HPA released a number of measures to protect against dengue including,
- Prevent mosquitoes from access by keeping doors closed at all times
- Prevent mosquito breeding inside and outside your home by destroying items, areas which may hold water
- Dress to provide full coverage and to use mosquito repellants
The agency also urged extra caution for the children, high-risk patients, pregnant women and the elderly since the disease is risky for them.
Those suffering from a fever for more than three days and other dengue symptoms are advised to visit a doctor immediately.
HPA also urged to take caution against other viral flus during the holiday season.
