Malé, Maldives – Maldives based religious organization “Jamiyyath Salaf” has denied any involvement in the Yoga Day attack following allegations by Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof earlier this morning.
In a statement released this afternoon, the organization condemned the false allegations by the Youth Minister and stated that Minister Mahloof is trying to instil hatred against the organization in the minds of the general public.
Going outside the rule of law and distupting the public peace is against [the Salaf] principles.
Salaf stated that while the organization has actively worked to raise awareness of the Islamic ruling of yoga, it is against Salaf’s principles to venture outside the rule of law, disrupting peace and harming property and people.
The organization also released a statement last night rejecting any involvement in the #No2Yoga protest this morning.
