Addu City, Maldives – Two men convicted of raping a disabled woman in Addu City have been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The assault took place during the early hours of Friday morning on July 31, 2020.

Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that the two men, Makhtoom Moosa Didi, K. Malé and Ali Shimau, Hithadhoo, Addu City, were charged with committing an act of sexual nature with a disabled individual, under the Sexual Offences Act (Act no. 17/2014), in relation to the crime.
On June 30th, 2022, Hithadhoo Magistrate Court ruled that both have been convicted of the crime and sentenced them to 15 years in prison.
