Police arrest all involved in May 2 gang violence

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Police Service on Tuesday completed their search for individuals involved with the gang violence in the capital city Male’ on 2 May 2022.

The gang violence which occurred at the Majeedhee Magu – Janawaree Magu junction in the capital city Malé gravely injured two.

Police arrested Munaadh Jaufar (20), Naadhee, S. Hulhudhoo but have not revealed any further information regarding the arrest.

Police previously arrested the following individuals regarding the gang violence.

  • Ahmed Sathiu (21), Coral, S. Maradhoo
  • Mausoom Mohamed Didi (27), Dhaftharu RS2260, Malé
  • Ahmed Rabeeu (24), Guleynooranmaage, GA. Maamendhoo
  • Ahmed Shimhaz (22), Seenuge, Th. Thimarafushi,
  • Looth Ahmed Asif (18), M. Lonumidhilige, Malé,
  • Hassan Ziyan Ibrahim (18), Unimaage, GDh. Vaadhoo and
  • Ahmed Nazih (27), Kenereege, GA. Gemanafushi.

Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed previously stated that the gang violence was instigated after a gang leader took offense after they were stopped on the road.
