MDP appoints deputy chairpersons via uncontested elections

Malé, Maldives – Ibrahim Waheed and Ahmed Abdulla were elected as ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s administrative and financial deputy chairpersons on Monday.

The two candidates won the elections uncontested.

Newly elected Deputy Chairperson (Administrative) Ibrahim Waheed also serves as the Deputy Managing Director of Fenaka and the President of Upper North province.

Deputy Chairperson (Financial) Ahmed Abdulla was re-elected for the same position a second term. Abdulla also serves as the MP for Baarashu constituency.

The ruling political party has cancelled the elections for the posts previously scheduled on August 19 since both posts were filled uncontested.
