Malé, Maldives – A team of Maldivian journalists have departed to India, to partake in a training opportunity provided by Amity University.

Maldives Media Council (MMC) revealed that twenty news organisations from Maldives will be represented at the eight day training programme for journalists and editors.

The programme will touch on media ethics, essential laws pertaining to media, as well as best practices of the field, reporting in conflict and emergency situations. Additionally, citizen journalism, video journalism, mobile reporting, along with community broadcasting and investigative journalism, as well as election reporting will be highlighted during the training.

Other areas of focus also include writing feature reports of public interest, importance of Twitter in the world of digital journalism, delivering news and reports in an audience engaging manner, importance of media and social media as well as on hate speech.

During the programme, the participants will also be visiting various Indian medias and meeting with editors, senior journalists and other stakeholders of the centers.

The head of delegation for this training trip is MMC Council Member Mohamed Shafiu, with Council Member Muizzu Ibrahim as deputy head of delegation.
