Lieutenant Colonel Amir appointed as Defence Advisor of Maldives to Sri Lanka

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Amir has been appointed as the new Defence Advisor designate at the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Amir and the incumbent Maldivian Defence Advisor, Colonel Ismail Naseer paid a courtesy call on the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Ministry at Sri Jayewardenepura.

Colonel Ismail Naseer expressed his gratitude to the Defence Secretary for the cooperation extended by the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Gen. Gunaratne praised the outgoing Defence Advisor for his cooperation extended to the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry while also commending for his assistance that led to further strengthening the existing ties between two countries. The Defence Secretary also extended compliments to the Defence Advisor Designate.

The two MNDF officers also called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on Friday.

During this official interaction, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne warmly welcomed Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Amir, the incoming Maldivian Defence Advisor and also expressed his gratitude and best wishes to Colonel Ismail Naseer, who is on the verge of his term of duty in Sri Lanka.
