Malé, Maldives – Asian Development Bank (ADB) has decided to donate USD 10 million towards the Covid-19 vaccine programme of Maldives.
The donation, which will be made under the Pacific Vaccine Access Facility of the Bank, will fund additional procurement of vaccines, establishment of storage facilities, vaccine delivery and monitoring activities as well.
Additionally, the donation will also go towards sourcing 7 speed boats, 2 refrigerated lorries and two vans, to deliver vaccines more efficiently within the atolls.
ADB has also previously assisted Maldives on various occasions and capacities, to help the country overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
