Anyone can meet Yameen during Addu City visit: PPM

Yameen’s last visit to Addu City was during the 2018 presidential election campaign. Yameen's visit to the city is his first to Addu since he was released from prison.

Addu City, Maldives – Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated that opposition leader, former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s is not visiting Addu City to meet people belonging to any particular ideology or party but that every citizen will be able to meet him during his visit.

Speaking to the press to give updates on the former presidents visit to Addu City today, spokesperson of PPM, Heena Waleed told that Yameen will meet people of all ages and backgrounds during his trip to city.

“It is not only people belonging to a party who have the opportunity. All the people will have the opportunity to meet him during this visit,” Heena said.

Heena also told that the former presidents main purpose of the trip is to discuss the future developmental plans for Addu City with the people. Former President Yameen is scheduled to meet with businessmen, women, youths, fishermen and people in working in other areas.

Yameen is also the presidential candidate of the opposition coalition – Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNC).

Former President Yameen is scheduled to arrive in Addu City today at 12:45 pm. Opposition party, PPM is preparing to give a warm welcome to him at the Gan International Airport. He is scheduled to visit the city from 6-9 of this month.

Yameen’s last visit to Addu City was during the 2018 presidential election campaign. Yameen’s visit to the city is his first to Addu since he was released from prison.

The former President is scheduled to visit all the wards of Addu City during the three day trip. PPM teams are working to welcome him and organize other activities in the islands of the city.
