Malé, Maldives – 13 people have been arrested in the counter-terrorism operation being carried out by Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force.
Police said nine people have been arrested in Addu City, two in Malé City and two in Guradhoo island. They are all Maldivian men, police said.
The operation is still ongoing, police said.
A large number of people were arrested last year in connection with extremism. Bomb making materials were also recovered from some of the arrested persons at the time.
