Malé, Maldives – Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that they will designate a private beach for guesthouses in Hulhumalé.

HDC said in a statement that it has decided to designate a private beach for guesthouses in Hulhumalé as part of the government’s efforts to promote tourism in the Maldives.

The area adjacent to the water theme park being built in Hulhumalé will be designated as the private beach.

HDC also revealed that the decision to designate a private beach for the guesthouses was taken at the request of Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail. The decision was taken at the request of the minister to promote small and medium enterprises.

Although there are a number of guest houses in Hulhumalé, there is no beach designated for tourists, resulting in tourists to often use the public beach areas.

HDC also said the government is making important efforts to promote SMEs or small and medium enterprises, and that they will provide full cooperation in this endeavor.
