Maldivian to stop accepting expired ID’s for domestic travel

Malé, Maldives – Island Aviation will not accept ID cards and other such documents on domestic flights from 22nd of next month if they have expired.

Maldivian, operated by Island Aviation Services (IAS), began accepting expired documents after the outbreak of COVID-19. However, the national carrier released a statement yesterday stating that the airline has now decided not to accept such documents after the 22nd of next month.

Expired ID cards, passports, work visa cards, license cards, airport security passes, official documents with ID card number and photograph issued by a government agency will not be accepted.
