Run Swim Addu, organized by Maldives Lifeguard Association (MLA) Addu has ended successfully this Friday.
The event was held in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with a total of 165 participants. Participants of under 6, 8 and 10 categories performed during the morning session while those of under 12,14 and 16 along with Master Level 1 and 2 performed in the afternoon session.
According to MLA, the event comprises of a running and swimming component where the under 6, 8, 10 and Master Level 1,2 participants can have a partner who completes either one of these components.
The event has bagged compliments from many of the participants, including some elite athletes of the country, considering that it was the first event organized by the association. Iron man athlete Athif commented that the event was very impressive and that he hopes to see the event to return.
Famous runner, Kuda Hussain described the event as a very perfect event organized by a group of youth. He was also fairly impressed with the number of participants and the overall arrangements of the event. He suggested that improving the timing and distance of the tournament would perfect the event even more.
The event was sponsored by Addu City Council, Ooredoo, Pebbles Inn, IloveAddu, Discover Addu, Control P, Irunners, Ehub, Honey Bee, Classy Missy, Wittey Photography and Addu Nature Park. Overall security and safety was covered by Maldives Police Service and Coast Guard. First Aid was taken care of Maldives Red Crescent as well as the local hospital.
