NIC to probe into deportation of expats while passports were confiscated

Prosecutor General’s office (PGO) has requested the National Integrity Commission (NIC) to look into the matter of the deportation two expatriates while their passports were confiscated.

PGO revealed that the two Bangladeshi natives in question were suspects of an on going drug case at the Criminal Court of Maldives.

It was further revealed by the PG office that the office has submitted a request to investigate the matter to NIC as the deportation was against the court order which dictated the confiscation of their passports.

While no further information was revealed with regards to the matter, the newly appointed Prosecutor General of Maldives, Hussain Shameem tweeted in relevance to the matter saying that ” There are some important issues which need to be put into order in this country.”
