Covid-19: Additional 18 positive cases – confirmed cases reach 2,400

Malé, Maldives — HPA confirmed additional 18 Covid-19 cases in Maldives over the past 24hours. 

HPA disclosed that, as of 6pm of July 2, from 6pm of July 1, additional 18 cases were confirmed for the virus in Maldives. They are:

  • 07 Maldivians
  • 11 Bangladeshis

Including these 18 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total of 2,400 confirmed Covid-19 cases. However, currently among these cases, there are only 416 active cases in Maldives. 

While 18 people were confirmed for the virus today, 15 has completely recovered from it today. Along with these recoveries, a total of 1,964 people have completely recovered from the virus in Maldives. The recovery rate of Maldivies is at 81%. 

Up to date, 10 have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 5 elderly Maldivian nationals, 4 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino nationality.

The most recent death was of a 92 year old Maldivian male admitted in DH11, who passed away at 11:45 pm of July 2 due to Covid-19.

While there are 275 people held in Isolation facilities, 115 are in quarantine facilities at present.

HPA yesterday announced the death of a 39 year old Indonesian male as the 11th Covid-19 related death in Maldives. However, later on HPA tweeted correcting that although he was positive for the virus, the primary cause of his death was indentified as stage 4 cancer.
