Male’, Maldives – Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has advised all vessels traveling by sea to be cautious while out at sea during these times.
Reminding that harsh weather and rough seas are expected in various parts of the country, MNDF highlighted the importance to checking the weather forecast ahead of traveling as well as ensuring that all safety equipment including life jackets, communication devices and draining pumps are on board prior to setting out to sea.
MNDF specifically highlighted not to exceed the limit of carrying weight on shipping vessels and cautioned such vessels to be extra cautious while traveling at night.
If any accident or incident happens while out at sea, MNDF urged to contact MNDF coast guard toll free hotline number 191 and share information of the matter as soon as possible.
