GDh. Hoadedhhoo, Maldives – Random samples collected from GDh. Hoadedhhoo have tested positive for Covid-19.
The random samples were taken following four positive cases among those in home quarantine, which triggered a response to confirm whether there is a community spread in the island. However, two random samples tested positive for the coronavirus, revealed Health Protection Agency (HPA).
With this, the island has been put on monitoring status, barring any unauthorized travel from or to the island.
As the number of cases in the country increases by the hundreds on a daily basis, the virus is also spreading out of the capital, Male’, which has the highest number of Covid-19 cases, into the islands. At present time, there are 39 islands with active Covid-19 cases, along with 20 resorts, in which 16 tourists and 45 employees are positive.
Maldives has exceeded the 8,000 mark of total Covid-19 cases in the country, and recorded 141 cases on Thursday alone.
