Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives — A one-month-old boy has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being treated at the intensive care unit.
The baby tested positive for the virus along with his three-year-old sibling and parents in Kudahuvadhoo island in Dhaalu atoll.
On Saturday, the baby was moved to the Covid-19 treatment facility in Gan island of Laamu atoll for further treatment. According to Gan Regional Hospital’s managing director, Ali Nasheed, the one-month-old baby was moved to their facility due to the baby vomiting.
Although Nasheed stated that there is a possibility of the condition of infant getting worse, he emphasized that the baby is currently in a stable condition. The mother of the baby is in the same facility along with him.
The family confirmed to be tested positive for the virus on Monday, after they recieved their test results after being quarantined.
Those who travel from the capital city to other atolls of Maldives are mandated to undergo a 14-day quarantine period. Those who are found violating this rule are fined for up to MVR 5,000.
