Covid-19: 30 year-old male from G.Dh. Atoll moved to treatment facility

G.Dh. Atoll, Maldives — A 30-year-old man who tested positive for the virus from Fares Maathodaa island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll is being transferred to a treatment facility after his condition deteriorated.

The patient was confirmed to have tested positive for the virus on Tuesday night. He has been transferred to the Villingili Covid-19 facility established in the atoll for further treatment.

According to the manager of GA. Atoll Hospital, Shareef Ahmed, the patient was transferred to the facility as he was facing difficulties in breathing, as per the Health Protection Agency’s (HPA) instructions

While two patients in the Covid-19 facility in Villingili had recovered from the virus and sent back to home from the facility up to date, an elderly couple who tested positive for the virus were sent for treatment in the facility on September 08.

According to Shareef, although the 14-day period having passed for the elderly couple, the authorities had decided to keep them for monitering for further 21 days due to their age.

A small surge in the number of confirmed cases were seen in Gaafu Dhaalu and Gaafu Alifu region recently, however the condition in the region has started to improve.
