Addu City, Maldives – Materials such as asphalt and additional machinery have been brought to Addu City for the upcoming road development project.
Under this project assigned to GK Developments Private Limited by the government, asphalt will be put on 18 new roads and 3 main roads in Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo will be resurfaced.
The agreement assigning this project to GK Developments Prvt.Ltd was signed on 23rd December 2019.
Addu council said that this product project worth MVR 134 million will help find a solution to the problems caused due to bad conditions of roads. In addition to this, the council also said that a second project for road development is also being prepared for.
The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure revealed that plans are ongoing for the reclamation of 228 hectares of land, in which 90 hectares of land from Hithadhoo, 75 hectares of land from Maradhoo and Maradhoo Feydhoo as well as 38 hectares and 25 hectares from Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo is planned to be reclaimed for tourism development.
Under this project water drainage systems in addition to light bulbs and CCTV camera systems will be installed in all roads if Addu City.
