Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives — Two more people have confirmed positive for Covid-19 virus in Kulhudhuffushi island.

The two cases were linked with the crew from Faalhu boat, which travels between the islands Malé and Kulhudhuffushi.

On Friday, the first case linked to the crew of Faalhu boat was indentified from the captain of the boat. This lead the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to put Kulhudhuffushi on lockdown for further monitoring as there is a possibility of a community spread in the island. Along with Kulhudhuffushi, HPA had announced that H. Dh. Nolhivaranfaru will also be on monitering status as the boat had made a stop to H. Dh. Nolhivaranfaru before travelling to Kulhudhuffushi.

According to HPA, the two people who confirmed for the virus were members of the boat’s crew. As they were identified as contacts of the boat captain, they were tested for the virus along with several other contacts. HPA stated that the contact tracing is still ongoing in the islands.
