Male’, Maldives – Former Vice President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the Maldivian peoples livelihoods are in vain whenever MDP comes to power.

In a tweet he posted earlier today, he said that a lot of days of excuses had passed and that the difference of the two philosophies have become very clear. He said that when ever an MDP president is in office the sovereignty is lost and debt increases which makes the people livelihoods a vain.

He went on to add that when this term ends that condition of Maldives will be in an ever low level and a lot of people would be suffering by then. The former VPs tweets come after the current government fell under criticism of financial mismanagement by the opposition amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

While The former Vice President Dr. Jameel is also a part of the current opposition, before he shifted sides, he played a key role of bringing the current administration to power. He rejoined PPM in August of this year as an advisor after resigning from Jumhooree Party saying that he lacks the opportunity to carry out his vision for the country.

Jameel was outset from office by an impeachment orchestrated by the then Minister of Tourism Adheeb who took office after him while he was serving as Former President Yameen’s second hand man. After he was impeached, Jameel was highly critical towards the former president and accused him of being involved in the MMPRC corruption scandal.
