Gaaf Dhaal atoll., Maldives — Two individuals have been arrested by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Wednesday due to a gang fight that took place in Rathafandhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
According to the police, the gang fight was reported at 02:30 in the morning of Wednesday. Due to this, the court ordered two locals of the age 21 and 28 to be arrested and remanded.
While the police are conducting further investigations regarding the fight, it is revealed that the two people who got injured are currently getting treatment at the Rathafandhoo Health Centre and Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.
Recently, a 25-year-old Maldivian male has also been arrested from Addu City due to a brutal gang violence activity as well.
The gang fight took place on late at night on Sunday in the most populous island of Addu City, Hithadhoo. After a misunderstanding between two gangs in the city, an individual was attacked with a sharped edged weapon and he had suffered multiple cuts on his back and left hand.
Police revealed that the victim is currently receiving treatment in the Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) and that he is in a stable condition despite having serious injuries. Gang fights and street violence is noticeably on the rise again, after having have been calm quite some time.
