Gnaviyani Atoll, Maldives – The Magistrate of Fuvahmulah, Mulha Ali resigns from her post amid the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) proposal sent to the People’s Majlis to dismiss Mulha from her position.

According to a statement revealed by JSC, they investigated the issues of Magistrate Mulha keeping inappropriate relations with the defense attorneys as she meets the defense attorneys in private.

In addition to this, the commission also investigated that issue where Mulha attempted to tamper the evidence of an investigation that was involved with her family member on December 2019. Mulha has also been accused of attempting to exert influence on the court officials who were handling the case on the day the relative of Mulha was supposed to be remanded.

Along with Mulha, JSC had also sent a proposal to the Majlis to dismiss the former Chief Judge of Criminal Court, Abdul Bari Yoosuf as well. He was accused of several issues including being among the judges who received personal gain from the funds that were embezzled through Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
