MET office warns of harsh weather for next 48 hours

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Meteorological Services (MET) has issued a warning, forecasting harsh weather with heavy rains in different parts of Maldives for the next 48 hours.

MET Office informed that the country is likely to face harsh weather and thunderstorms for the next 48 hours. Along with this, MET specifically informed that the areas from Haa Alifu to Ali Dhaalu Atoll are forecasted to see strong winds and rough seas as well.

The MET Office also warned that strong winds between 13 and 23 miles per hour are expected to be seen in the atolls in North of Maldives and in the middle of Maldives, with winds going up as high as approximately 40 miles per hour. MET also informed that the seas are expected to be rough at a normal rate.

On the other hand, the atolls in the South and South West are expected to face strong winds between 5 and 15 miles per hour. MET informed that the seas in the South are expected to be calm at a normal rate.

The MET Office advised all citizens to be cautious of the upcoming severe weather conditions and to take precautionary measures against it. MET specifically urged the seafarers in central and northern atolls and those living in flood prone island to take precautions.
