Male’, Maldives – Maldives Police Service arrests two people with drugs and alcohol in two different drug operations that were held in Gdh. Fiyoari and K. Himmafushi.
The drug operation conducted in Fiyoari was due to the information Police Intelligence had received saying that drugs were being smuggled into Gdh. Rathafandhoo from Gdh. Fiyoari.
The Police Intelligence and Police officers in Fiyoari worked together in this operation on December 21 and caught a 19 year old local man who was in possession of a packet that was suspected to be drugs.
When Police approached the Magistrate Court in Fiyoari to determine how long the local will be remanded, the Court informed that the 19-year-old will be remanded at any place instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for 10 days.
The drug operation conducted at K. Himmafushi was due to information Police Intelligence received saying that alcohol was being stored and used at a factory in Himmafushi. This is why, the Police Intelligence and Police officers in Himmafushi worked together to find the perpetrators.
This operation was also held on December 21 at the suspected factory in Himmafushi. Police received a court order to search the factory to which they found 49 beer bottles and arrested a 56-year-old Sri Lankan man along with it.
When Police approached the Magistrate Court in Huraa to determine how long the Sri Lankan will be remanded, the Court informed that the perpetrator will be remanded at any place instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for 15 days.
