Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has declared that Niyama Private Islands Maldives located in Olhuveli, Kudahuvadhoo Dhaalu Atoll has been placed under monitoring as of Wednesday, following multiple cases of Covid-19.
HEOC detailed on the matter, explaining that 07 of the 17 samples collected from the resort had come back positive and that the resort is now under monitoring status to curb the spread of Covid-19 as much as possible.
HEOC revealed that two tourists and three staffs of Niyama Maldives were tested for the virus as they were deemed symptomatic, of which the results came back positive. HEOC said that among the 17 samples of the contacts they had taken, additional two staffs had tested positive for the virus while the others showed a negative result.
With the island being place on monitoring status, all unauthorized access to the island and departure from the island has been made prohibited. This includes any tourists residing at the resort during this time as well.
Tourists who are to depart the country after completing their vacation, must also be declared as a non-contact of any positive individual on the island, and must received a negative PCR result prior to departure.
Currently, there are a total of 558 active cases of Covid-19 in the country, while the total number of recorded cases in the country is at 13,738. However, 13,125 patients have recovered accounting for more than 95 percent of total positive cases in the country.
