President Solih highlighted the shared values between the countries and mentioned that Maldives and the US are friends and partners. He shared a message of hope in working with President Biden to grow the friendship between the two countries.
President Biden was sworn in a heavily guarded ceremony, which took place on the steps of the Capitol Hill. His inaugural speech was one of hope and unity in the face of the crises of Covid-19 and economic downturn. President Biden has who has called climate change the “existential threat of our time,” is expected to rejoin the Paris accords on his first day in office.
