Covid-19: Additional 79 confirmed cases over the past 24 hours

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) announces additional 79 confirmed cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours.

36 of the confirmed 79 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 06 from the islands and the remaining 35 cases from the operational resorts in Maldives and 02 from Live aboard.

With these 79 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,017 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 14,712.

The recovery rate has increased rapidly from less than 60% to 92% over the past months, totaling up to 13,639 cases to date.

To date, 49 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 42 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.

Maldives has received 100,000 doses of the Oxford-Astrazeneca ‘Covishield’ vaccine from India yesterday.
