M.Kolhufushi, Maldives – The state if monitoring imposed on M. Kolhufushi due to COVID-19 have now been removed.

The island was placed under monitoring following an individual who tested negative after completing quarantine, testing positive again after traveling to Male’ City. The island was placed under monitoring mechanisms on January 24 due to this case. Other individuals in direct contact with the positive case from the island also tested positive.

A signed notice by the Director-General of Public Health issued today, read that the monitoring mechanisms on the island were lifted after authorities completed procedures regarding the spread of the virus on the island. This includes contact tracing efforts on the island.

Additional 100 cases of Covid-19 and 156 recoveries were confirmed over the past 24 hours. 75 of the confirmed 100 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 15 cases from the operational resorts and 10 from the atolls of Maldives with no cases recorded from live aboard and the islands under development. With these 100 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 2,160 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 17,201.
