COVID-19: Kolhufushi placed under monitoring again!

M. Kolhufushi, Maldives – M.Kolhufushi has been placed under monitoring once again, following a random sample from the island testing positive for Covid-19.

Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) confirmed this to local news outlet The Press, mentioning that the island was placed under monitoring following a random sample testing positive.

The island was previously placed under monitoring on January 24 following an individual who tested negative after completing quarantine, testing positive again after traveling to Male’ City. Other individuals in direct contact with the positive case from the island also tested positive. The island was removed from monitoring status of February 11th.

Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 145 additional positive cases increasing confirmed coronavirus cases in Maldives to 18,612. While Maldives has recorded 16,061 total recoveries, there are 2,484 active cases of Covid-19. Health professionals urge the public to adhere to the guidelines as much as possible to minimize the spread of the virus.
