Female oficers appointed to MNDF Advisory Board for first time

Malé, Maldives – For the first time in the history of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), two high raking female officers have been appointed to the Advisory Board of MNDF.

The two senior officers appointed to the board are Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Fathimath Thahseena Ibrahim and Lieutenant Colonel Hawwa Sheneen.

Lieutenant Colonel Hawwa Sheneen currently serves as the CEO of Sifainge Cooperative (SIFCO). Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Fathimath Thahseena Ibrahim served as assistant to the commanding officer of Senahiya Military Hospital.

The MNDF Advisory Board main purpose is to discuss and advise the Chief of Defence Force when making policies on administrative and operational activities. The board is led by the current Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal.

The Minister of Defence can appoint any high ranking official involved in the defense and safety of the Maldives, that she prefers to the board that mainly advises the Minister and the Chief of Defence Force.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Fathimath Thahseena Ibrahim and Lieutenant Colonel Hawwa Sheneen Are also among the first three women who had been promoted to this rank in the history of MNDF earlier this year.
