Addu City, Maldives — In light of the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, a flu clinic has been established in Hulhumeedhoo of Addu City.

The CEO of Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) Dr. Mohamed Solih has informed that the Hulhumeedhoo flu clinic is located in a building in front of the health center of the island. Dr. Solih informed that the building has been rented and the place is now prepped and ready to provide flu clinic services to the residents in Hulhumeedhoo.

Dr. Solih noted that patients will be able to consult everyday start from 10:00 in the morning until 22:00 at night.

While there already is a flu clinic established in Hithadhoo of Addu City, another flu clinic in Hulhumeedhoo came after two random samples that were carried out in Meedhoo returned positive for Covid-19. Hulhumeedhoo is separate from the other connected islands of the atoll by the sea and does have easy access to the flu clinic in Hithadhoo.

It has been reported that both individuals who tested positive for the virus from the district are locals, and that both live in the same residence. While contact tracing is ongoing in the island, so far, authorities have informed that they have traced 19 contacts of the positive cases.
