Dhevvadhoo placed under monitoring status again

GA. Dhevvadhoo, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) confirmed that GA. Dhevvadhoo has been placed under monitoring status yet again.

HEOC informed that the island was placed under monitoring following an individual from the island who was in home quarantine testing positive for Covid-19.

They added that the individual came in contact with other citizens of the island during his quarantine period, which is why the island was placed under monitoring to further investigate it.

The island was previously placed under and removed from the status a month later. A total of 95 people had texted positive for Covid-19 when the island was previously removed from monitoring status.

Maldives has recorded 186 cases of Covid-19 yesterday alone. With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 19,979 out of which 17,343 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of March 1, 2021.

While Maldives is currently riding one of the worst waves that has hit the country in terms of the pandemic, at present, there are 181 patients receiving hospitalized care for the virus throughout the country. While majority of the hospitalized patients being in the capital, experts continuously reiterate the importance of taking preventive steps against Covid-19, such as maintaining adequate physical distancing, wearing masks, practicing hand hygiene and getting the Covid-19 jab.
