HEOC informed that with the additional three Covid-19 cases, now the total toll in the island has gone up to 31 since the first Covid-19 case was found on February 28th. On the first day itself, the island had confirmed nine Covid-19 cases, all of whom were quarantined individuals.
However, as the individuals had violated the quarantine rules, the authorities had taken samples of their contacts which later confirmed four Covid-19 positive cases. Since then, 158 samples were taken from the island, symptomatic islanders and the contacts of the positive cases. Out of these, HEOC informed that nine people had returned positive for Covid-19.
There has been a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country lately, with new more viral variants confirmed. With this, the country has now recorded over 21,000 Covid-19 cases to date.
